Re-Installing Windows 7

Go to solution Solved by Altecice,

Do a clean install on the SSD. You will be able to reactivate it yes (just dont forget to gather your drivers :) )

Greetings!

So here's the case,

Im receiving anytime soon now a new SSD in the mail.

Is it possible to re-install my windows 7 on the SSD? (btw its a samsung ssd, so Im eligible to use their cloning software)

Or somehow re-install the whole OS on my HDD before moving it on the SSD?

Most important part is, am I required to purchase new version of windows? (Ive got "OEM" version of windows, since I built this computer myself, ofcourse inspired by linus ^_^

Ive got the product key for my "OEM" windows 7.

All I want is fresh Windows 7 before moving onto the SSD.

Thanks in advance guys!  ;)

That was fast response O_o!

Am I required to somehow "Unistall" my previous OS to make the product key active? Or can I just take the HDD and throw it to trash :D

Sorry but Im not an expert with this kind of stuff ;_;

Nothing to do with the old OS. Just install the new one with the same key - it will probably fail to activate.  At that point, just phone them for activation and they will walk you through the rest.

Make sure you tell them you "upgraded" the hardware.  The license is non-transferrable technically to a new system, but the line is very blurry between "upgrading" parts on a PC vs replacing it wholesale.
