Hello everybody,

Well I recently got my first full time job right out of college and it's time to get a laptop (I'm waiting till DDR4 to upgrade my main PC) because I am traveling a lot.

Of course I want a gaming laptop, but there a few specifications I would like.

  1. At least a 17" Full HD screen
  2. Haswell
  3. 8+ Gigs of RAM
  4. Decent Graphics Card
  5. Up to $1700

Here is my main prospect so far:

This being very sleek is also a huge plus.

I am a Graphic Designer that does a ton of rendering, but I also am a hardcore PC gamer.

Does anyone have any input on this Laptop or any other suggestions?

Been around since the beginning of LTT & the forums, but mostly just lurk!

I personally like Alienware laptops (though I'm not a huge fan of the new styling), but they are a bit more expensive than others.. At that price range, MSI and ASUS are probably the best you're going to get.. Razer's laptops are more expensive due to them putting high-end specs into such a small form-factor.

The specs on that GE70 are pretty much the best you're going to get for that price.

here these are the BEST laptops: http://www.xoticpc.com/custom-gaming-laptops-notebooks-laptops-with-nvidia-video-cards-ct-95_51_178.html

Here is what you may like from the website: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8250s-clevo-p157sm-p-5870.html

Look at the tech specs on it. You customise it to your liking, like a faster hard drive.

The Sager NP8250 is a 15"..

Get an asus g75vx

The G75vx is a Ivy-bridge laptop..

To Zaxmazr: From what I've seen, the MSI GE70 and the Asus G750jw are your two best options.. Both have pretty much equal specs, at an identical price. A friend of mine has an old Asus G55, and the build quality (from what I could tell) was excellent. Also, the Asus laptops have dedicated heatsinks/fans for the CPU and the GPU, which is important if you're going to put a heavy load on both the CPU and GPU at the same time..

Both MSI's GE-series and the Asus G-series are somewhat midrange in terms of future upgradeability and power, but the price is definitely good for what you get.. MSI's GT-series, Alienware, and Clevo models, offer more premium options like upgradeable GPUs (using the MXM 3.0 standard) and much more customization, but that comes at a price premium usually well over $2000.

Nice,

Basically an upgraded version of my specs and I love it. Can run games exceptionally well. Nice pricing for a 780m also.

I don't want to sound rude here, but did you read his criteria?

His max price is pretty clearly listed as $1700, and the 17" Blade Pro starts at $2300 (with only $128 GB of storage)..

Yeah i know but I'm in love with the blade...

Pretty much perfect, see if you can bump down the HDD and then get a cheaper 120GB SSD. Then, get an external USB 3 enclosure and run your games off there. This would probably burst your budget though. (and you'll have a ghetto drrive beside your laptop when you're gaming)
