So I assume you're installing it through a regular setup folder.. Thumb drive whatsoever.

 

Seems like your Win7 is unable to transfer data to your installation setup, and seeing that you "install it" in Desktop. Can you consider try to launch it through the BIOS? aka.. "format" .. or not "format", press on the "Upgrade" if you just want to upgrade the version.

 

Maybe it'll do that there, as I think Win7 is not letting the installation gather enough data... Happens I guess,

 

Or.. it could be that what you got is a bad version of the installation, probably.

Yeah I think you are right on that one, I'm just going to mess around with it a little more to see what I can do. My favorite part of this experience was that when I called windows support, after an hour of waiting and reading off my product key and describing the situation; in the end they got a "Chief Technician" to come in and tell me "Your product key is good, we recommend upgrading your processor so that it meets Windows 8.1 requirements." Apparently 1Ghz > 4200 Mhz
