Help with audio?

So I threw away my xbone a while back and started strictly PC gaming. But one thing I have noticed is that with the Xbox the sound direction was far more accurate when using the same headphones. Can anyone help me get that accuracy back with my PC?

...come to think of it, I may have a problem that is similar to this on my Turtle Beach x12s when playing CS:GO. My friends always have to tell me when a bomb is being planted/defused/they hear footsteps because my mic simply won't pick it up. Just never really thought about it I guess until now.
