So if I were on a tight budget would this be a really good cheap build? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JnfKGX

If not, feel free to make some changes to it.

Try to get a longer case, like an H440. The 210 is probably gonna render some drive bays unusable if you stick a 290X in there, especially a Windforce card in there.

this is probably the only place i'll hang out anymore: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/274320-the-long-awaited-car-thread/

Current Rig: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Abit IN9-32MAX nForce 680i board, Galaxy GT610 1GB DDR3 gpu, Cooler Master Mystique 632S Full ATX case, 1 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA and 1x200gb Maxtor SATA drives, 1 LG SATA DVD drive, Windows 10. All currently runs like shit :D

Why would you spend that much for the highest end i3 and an H97? Might as well get the lowest i5 and an H81.

Because I don't really know anything about this stuff and thought I would ask for help :)

What is the difference between the motherboard I had and the one you picked out?

The one I picked out supports Crossfire, so you can add a second 290/290X later on if you feel you need more graphics power.

Ok I changed a few things like the graphics card and CPU. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jQmVCJ Will that motherboard support another 970 later on like the 290 you stated?

Well, a few things

-That mobo only supports one graphics card. The one I suggested supports up to two AMD cards (but only one Nvidia card)

-Blower 970s aren't that good

-That's an unlocked CPU, and you will not be able to use it's overclocking abilities with an H97 board.

1. Then which motherboard supports two 970's?

2. What is a blower 970?

3. Which CPU can I buy that can be overclocked?

1. You need a Z87 or Z97 motherboard to run SLI

2. Like the 970 in your build, it has a single fan towards the rear of the card. If you're getting an aftermarket case such as one of those NZXT ones that have decent airflow, then get one of the non-blower cards (cards with two/three fans)

3. You need a Z87/Z97 motherboard along with a K CPU to overclock. You'll also need a better cooler to accommodate the extra heat that comes with overclocking.

Ok in this updated build I have a Z97 motherboard, the 970 has two fans on it, and a K CPU. Now I'd like to avoid water cooling, so what would be a better cooler? Also, can this be overclocked and how much? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/z8qLjX

That's a very good cooler and it will allow you to overclock that CPU quite a bit.

However I would get at least this PSU if you want to SLI 970s later on. It's only 5 bucks more for quite a better built PSU. Corsair doesn't offer great PSUs for the money. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-neoeco620c
