What games are you planning on playing? Do you want to play on 3 screens? If not, then there is no reason to get 900gb of vram,

EDIT: If you're just playing cod/league/bf4, a 770 will be fine, 2gb of vram will slap those games without an issue

Like I said, I recommend a 7970 over a 770, just not the Gigabyte 7970 because it's voltage locked.

You asked me specifically what I'd recommend from EVGA, that would be the ACX 770, the card can't fully use 4GB of VRAM because of the narrow memory interface & the only 4GB 770 from EVGA is the classified model which costs 510$.

which 7970 and why is it bad if its voltage locked?

If you cant increase the voltage your overclock will be limited, but if you don't intend to overclock then it will not make any difference.

Yea, you don't need to really worry about VRAM unless you're playing on 3 screens in 5760x1080+ resolution. Because vram is ram for your graphics card, which it stores all the textures on that appear on your screen, if you play on a huge resolution, then more textures need to be stored.

I don't think bf4 will be very demanding, seeing as bf3 isn't really all that bad, so I think you should be fine with a 770. If you do get one, get an ACX 770 from EVGA, the one you linked earlier.  I have 2 ACX 780, and I LOVE them to death.

I highly disagree, BF3 already maxes out 2GB of VRAm when you max it out (AA x8), and BF4 will most assurdly use at least 3GB of VRAM, being the lowest common denominator between the PS4 & the XBOX One.

2GB is not enough, Skyrim on the PC with the 2K texture pack already maxes out my 2GB 680, and if you like using mods you're looking at 3GB of VRAM usage, which is a real  bummer since my brother's 7950 can run it just fine with its 3GB of memory.

I play with a 3gb 780 on surround in absolute MAX, 1 screen in ultra will be fine with 2gb. lol

Well it's obviously going to be different for each game, & you must have anti aliasing disabled or at low otherwise you will most definitely run out of memory.

Honestly all of them will work, just buy the cheapest one, for the extra ~50 bucks of this one, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008

You will get a better gameplay experience IMO, so I'd say go with that.

This is a Ghz Edition, which is a higher binned chip (overclocks higher) it comes as standard with a 1050mhz clock speed (50 more than the dual-X) and faster VRAM, the usual price for this card is 460$, but sapphire dropped it to 420$ last week, & the price seems to have gone up due to high demand.

In any case, I'd recommend going with a regular 7970 & overclocking it yourself, save yourself a couple of bucks.

Battlefield 4 is going to be AMD optimized, so I suggest going with a 7970 if you want to play that game a lot : http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/25489-amd-stepping-up-their-game/

The 3GB of memory will come in handy in the near future as well, it's a good idea to go with a 7970 as well if you plan to upgrade to a Titan later on, just to have experience with both the red & green teams

Would this be good http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202003

or just go with the regular 7970?

The 7970 is 20% faster right out of the box & has more overclocking headroom, but it costs 50$ more, I personally think it's worth it.
