Mechanical keyboard keycaps?

Go to solution Solved by shirokado,

well it seems ducky does sell keycaps, but the shine ones only come in UK english or Chinese/English

no pure US english so i'll just start saving up for a ducky shine 3

Ok so I have a filco, a corsakr k70, and a logitech g710+

the corsair k70 and logitech g710+'s keycaps feel terrible. such cheap plastic.

so where can i buy high quality mechanical keycaps that are usable with backlit keyboards. Is there any place that does? cause now i feel like i should have just bought a ducky.

the g710+ is generally awsome, just cheap plastic keycaps

the k70 is just... a terrible keyboard imo. the wrist rest is useless, the keyboard itself is super slippery(is there a solution to this) the backlight is uneven, the keycaps feel terrible, and the keyboard doesnt even angle that high.. maybe like half an inch. the only thing going for it is that it looks nice with the aluminum and it has the awsome volume control\

so links pls to where i can buy keycaps that supports backlights.

Honestly it sounds like even with new keycaps you're still not going to be overall happy with the K70.

But ducky do sell seperate set's of keycaps which are usable with backlit keyboards. (I have a grey set, but am hoping to get the purple set too)

Hope that helps :)

id rather have 4 problems then 5 :P and i need them for my g710+ as well. the keycaps are really loose. i can pull them off with 2 fingers no problem. while on my filco, taking the keycaps with my fingers is nearly impossible. same for my coolermaster keyboard.

I only recently started getting into mechanical keyboards, but atm I have a Ducky Shine 2 (brown) and a Corsair K70 (red), but I have a few more coming that I am looking forward to trying out. I haven't found any mechanical keyboards yet that I would say have easy to remove keys, I think it would really annoy me if they were easy to pull off because I'm a fiddler lol and would spend alot of time just pulling off the keys and putting them back on again, which I don't think would be great in the long run. :)

Ducky for good quality key caps, I have seen generic no name key caps, one look and you'd hurl them in disgust. I was a fool and bought a set of this key caps (for the Tab, Ctrl, Enter, Shift keys), mounted them on my Filco and almost immediately, removed them to be kept as a reminder to NOT go cheap with key caps. The pic below is a reminder to me to never go cheap-

I've since replaced the original Ninja key caps with a set of Ducky Channel white on white key caps, looks so much better, don't you think? Good quality ABS caps....wish it were PBT though.

Here's a pic of the Ducky Shine grey key caps that CaramelPleasure  had mentioned, mounted on my DS II 78 Version...with a set of 5 transparent key caps for the WASD and Esc keys. Bear in mind that I had to lower the brightness of the LED to allow for a good pic.....

yes they do, if you when you are selecting the item select laser etching it allows backlight to passthrough :)

i have ordered a set of laser etched keycaps before for my old old blackwidow ultimate. they do not let light through.

two questions: how do you have different coloured leds, did you change them yourself? and does ducky sell those transparent keycaps? thanks

really? i thought that all laser etched key caps allowed for backlighting, thanks for the info :)

the printing was laser etched, and they're still going strong for me(note that its only the qwer and df key switches for league of legends) but no backlight sadly

Mine's the 78 Version, 7 different color LED, 8 different switch types......it's a limited Edition with a run of 399 made, mine's 210/399. There's another member here who has just gotten a 78 Version as well, kind of hard to find......found mine in a specialist peripheral shop, penultimate set. Here's a pic of the switch below the key caps

As for the transparent key caps, I don't think Ducky sells such, mine a no name generic set of five key caps, but hey, it looks good! I'm trying to find a full 108 key translucent set of key caps....they look so damn awesome I just got to find them. The Ducky Shine grey and pink/purple set of key caps can be found quite easily, but white on white, and novelty key caps are pretty damn hard to get. Usually via mass order/group buys....

Wish I could help you out, but mine's from a brick and mortar shop in my neck of the woods, not via online purchase. Perhaps you can hang around geekhack, there might just be a deal or two to be had there...
