1. Budget & Location

Around $700(US) after rebates.

It's gonna be my Christmas present.   :D

2. Aim

Mainly for gaming and basic web browsing, watching videos, listening to music, working on college papers, etc.

Not really interesting in recording or streaming.

As for what sort of gaming I know I'll be playing some SOE games, Minecraft, Garry's Mod, Counter Strike, etc.

The laptop I have now can't handle gaming too well so I'm likely to start playing many more games.

If you know of any fun and pretty games(right now I have to run most games at the lowest settings to get the best fps) feel free to suggest them.

3. Monitors

As for monitors, only planing on having one atm. It's http://www1.viewsonic.com/products/archive/va1912wb.htm

But in a few months may ask for a better one(suggestions?) for my birthday and use both of them to make homework and papers easier to get done.

4. Peripherals

Have a simple wireless mouse, no problems with it.  Trying to find a keyboard, I think there is at least one spare one somewhere in the house.  But if not, I can just ask for one for Christmas.

For os, I'm planing to put a free os on my laptop and put the Windows 7 that's on my laptop right now onto my desktop.

5. Why are you upgrading?

I have a laptop.  I like gaming.  My laptop is not good at gaming.  Plus it is not doing so great, freezing up, overheating, think the graphics card is damaged.  Not to long ago it went BSOD, something about driver power failure.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bm67ZL

That's what I've decided on so far.

Not sure about the case though, it's all black but I would like a nice sleek looking black case with some dark blue and no window.

Also, bit worried about if the cooler will fit the case.

Do not want to overclock.

Not very interested in intel parts, heard they're against net-neutrality.

So yeah, tell me what's good, tell me what's bad, tell me if you know of a pretty case.

Never built a computer before so this is all pretty new to me.

Just stay close to the budget if you recommend any changes please.

1. For the PSU, go with one from Corsair, Seasonic, Silverstone, or EVGA.

2. I'd try going for an i5 4690 or 4690K if possible, even if that means dropping the SSD.

3. A r9 270 or gtx 750ti would work just fine for what you plan to do and would cost a bit less.

4. Get the hyper 212 evo if possible.

How about something better?

Your motherboard was pretty shit, your CPU was i3-like for gaming, the PSU was so-so, the Intel CPU won't need a cooler past the stock one, the N200 is sleek, the system is balanced in color for the most part and the GPU is better.

And if you're not buying Intel because they're against net-neutrality, what is AMD's stance on it? Do they support it or not? They haven't given a stance, and what do you think it would be? Do you really think they would be for it? And even to which point, the concept of an internet fast-lane makes sense.

I read him well enough, but if you can get Intel at the price point, why go AMD? What is even the point? Because they may support net neutrality? Even though we don't know if they do or not?

Alright. One moment.

I'm seeing this waaay too often now.

We see a thread where AMD would make more sense, but the OP wants intel, so we reccomnd intel builds.

We see a thread where it's anyones game, and the OP wants AMD, why cant we go AMD? Is it outside your tiny brains realm of thought, that the OP might want something other than yourself? Is it incomprehensable, that AMD might just be a vetter solution sometimes? Seriously, this is getting out of hand.

I know the OP personally, I helped create the list she posted. She plays FIREFALL MORE THAN ANY OTHER GAME. FIREFALL IS ONE OF THOSE GAMES THAT LIKE MORE CORES, AND FASTER GPUS. IT'S A FRIGGEN AMD EVOLVED TITLE FOR GOD's SAKES.

IS IT TOO MUCH FOR YOU GUYS TO ACCEPT THIS?

Hyper 212 evo is not always the best choice, there are other coolers that are cheaper that perform around the same as a 212 evo.

Is that really your only response?

I've stated my reasons.

State yours & be honest too.

Hate it, regret buying it, not satisfied with the performance of my 8320, dead socket, old cpu, no new features.

Guys, you're both pretty, now hug it out and make it up.

In this case however, @ is right.

If the OP plays firefall more than any other game, the FX6300 is right for her.

This is further justified by her other choice of game, which are made by SOE, which I'm assuming means Planetside 2 and upcoming H1Z1? These games run forgelite, which as of last year got an update, and really loves high core counts.

In this case, I'd have to say that the OP's list is pretty much perfect.

Didnt @LinusTech recomed OCZ psus for the longest time?
