You want a better PSU if possible - bundled ones are often crap.

You dont need an after market cooler for a locked i5-4440, and you can use B85/H81/H97 etc motherboards instead, the Z87/Z97 only improves on Overclocking over the lesser boards so there is no reason to not go for something cheaper. You're getting stuff you don't need.

Don't use that case.

The cheap CM cases are crappy, and the included power supply will be even crappier. That case doesn't even have front USB 3

And where's your mass storage?

It's not that it'll break.

The build experience will be difficult, the design will be poor, edges will be sharp. The case will be small, and expansion lacking.

The PSU, will have terrible efficiency, and bad PSUs are known to break/blow up/short components (not a huge explosion mind you, just the whole of your PC)

Dump the $250 in peripherals (headset/mechanical keyboard), then grab:  a R9 280, or 285; i5 4790K; and either a 256GB SSD or and extra 8 GB of RAM.  Buy the peripherals later.  Focus on the hardware for your build.  Get a cheap $8 keyboard for now if you need one.

Do you need that particular keyboard? you can get better KBs

so what should i get?

I know a great budget case. The NZXT Source 340. While it doesn't have room for an optical drive, it's a great case, and makes pc building even easier, especially cable management. You can always get a USB external optical drive.

Also what about mass storage, you're going to run out of room for files very quickly with just an ssd

You mean semi or fully modular power supplies?

semi means you can take out some cables that you dont need

fully modular means you could take out every cable

it makes for a clean build, but the nzxt source 340 makes cabling look clean anyway

...and yet cheaper still...

Semi modular means that some cables are integrated...motherboard power for example.  Some cables are plug in as you need, use ONLY the ones you need.  That means there are fewer loose cables in your machine, and usually results in better airflow and aesthetics.

Hey, I don't mean to pester you....say so if i am annoying you =).  I would just rather see you get a better machine.

...and it is $100 cheaper AFTER rebates, so you could theoretically add the $100 headset.

...and bigger Monitor!

Personal experience weighs heavy with enthusiasts, I get it.  I personally have issue with ASUS mobos....but I know they are good.  Crucial is a very reputable company that has been around the block.  There are other options though.

So what do you think? of the build?

A good SSD

Note:  When I help out with these builds, it is like I am organizing my own PC.  Feels weird, I don't forget it is not mine though. =)

I doubt that he'll be overclocking.

Pester him all you want, but it's not going to change his views on peripherals. That's down to preference

is that better also what is the difference between full and semi apu which one is easier to build with

what do you mean by full and semi apu? i haven't heard that term, and i'm pretty sure you're not talking about APU as in AMD CPus.
