Wireless card for desktop

Go to solution Solved by WinNut,

  1. Yes

The PCIe lanes that supply your GPU come from the PCIe 3.0 controller on the CPU, while the PCIe lanes that supply the x1 slots come from the PCIe 2.0 controller on the chipset. You won't have to remove the GPU.

Hi, I'm looking to purchase a wireless card for my new build and I am a bit confused on some things and didn't know what section to post this thread in.

1.) Does a PCIe network card have a tangible performance benefit over a USB one?

2.) I have a dual GTX 970 setup and they occupy all of the 16 PCIe lanes that my CPU can handle. Would I have to take out one of my graphics card to be able to use a PCIe lane based network card?

I would like to personally use a PCIe card rather than a USB one + have the maximum performance/speed possible.

3.) Can I get recommendations to some options depending on the answers to questions 1 and 2?

Edit :

If I use a MPCIe card or a M.2 card, will that change the scenario of having to swap out one of my GPUs?

Asus makes the best for desktop. The 7260 from Intel is a decent choice and also has Bluetooth but uses up a usb port for that as well. If you only need N to link has a great 3 antenna option
