Am i safe ?

Go to solution Solved by runit3,

Sweet mother of god that's a beautiful chip. 1.315v is perfectly acceptable for 5GHz+, as well as the 78-80C mark. You should be able to run that sub 70C as a daily driver no problems. Remember, P95, XTU, AIDA, etc. are all synthetic benchmarks, they're going to stress your CPU more than you ever could in any real world scenario.

My suggestion now would be to perform some real world stress tests. Open a few browsers, play some youtube videos, and launch a game and play for ~30min. Keep checking back on temps and as long as there's no BSOD's you're good to go.

Would love to see that thing put up a cb score.

Hi guys

First of all this is my fisrt post 2nd this is my first ever O.C after watching alot of youtube videos about overclocking.

my setup is Asus Z97K , i5 4690K , corsiar V 1600mhz , CM hyper 212X turbo (push/pull)

actually i got 2 stable points 1st was 5.13ghz for 4 hours on prime 95 Small ffts but temps after 3 hours started to hit 78-82C(1.315V)

so i decied to downclock and evantually 4.51ghz is where i think i'm safe with temps for 4 hours on prime 95.

but i want to listen to expert overclockers do i need to put this up again to 5.13ghz and are these temps i mean 78-80C ok or not

on 5.20 i faced a crash after 30 seconds by the way :D

One more thing i'm wonding if a CUP can go up to 5.13Ghz and it can stablize why intel is putting this one in like of 3.5ghz???????

someone plz tell me what is the life span of this Chip what i'm having now. i5 4690K on stock.

Your temps are totally safe. Stay below 80C and you're good. Also you won the lottery getting 5.13 O_o

a sillicon lottery mean you won the lottery but instead of winning money you win better silicon in the cpu and if you put the h75 you will get better temps and 5.13Ghz is a high overclock and remember to quote the people your replying to and remember to follow your topics

So i'm good to go for 5.13Ghz. actually before downclocking i have used my common sense and thought about same that Prime is putting cup you on highest load and i never see it before in any case even video rendering never stays on one place . so i tested it on 30 mint clip on AVS video editor and played Thif and COD advance warfare for i think 2 hours no carsh nothing. but i was afraid to burn my chip out coz on youtube everyone is yelling below 80C or you are dead i have saved 2 months pocket money to build this rig i dont' want to burn it LOL.

Nice, if you took that thing back up to 5+ you should be able to dethrone me :D at least until I'm brave enough to throw 1.45v+ at mine  Won't take 5.0 even at 1.42v. You've got a golden chip there, congrats.

Linus said AIEDA is better so i bought it to test chip on it . Linus! that cost me 32 bucks   . LOL JK . anyways i just crank it a little up to see may be i get some better temps with stable reslutes . for one hour its still stable and on mean time while test is running i'm posting this reply LOL . lest see if it can handle multi task. i hope this will show guys who are not believing on the benchmark page that i actually hit the 5.13ghz . they keep asking where is 5.13ghz run or test or bla bla ...come on guys i didn't even knew that i found out north america .lol. i was testing it for my self not for others to show off. now plz see temps and tell me should i stay on this speed coz i'm little concerd about 75C number. as soon as i get liquid cooling kit i'll hit 5ghz+ and will be a show off for show offs .Lmao.

It's not really intended for showing off, it's a genuine interest in data on how high these CPU's can clock, anything involving showing off is usually in jest.

75C is nothing to worry about during synthetic benchmarks. I call 85-87C my limit for synth benches, your CPU will never get that hot in real world usage (excluding F@H).

For Cinebench runs, they're just that -runs. They are not 24/7 stable clocks or temps, only brief stints into the semi-dangerous territory North of 1.3v (sometimes) to pull some cb's  :D

1.351v is still astronomically low for a 5GHz+ desktop stable OC. I've got my 4690k running on 1.35v for 24/7 use @4.9GHz.

then how same specs same chip is working better on low volts ? intel is not looking at quality control side then i think! if they are earn same from everyone on a chip name you are paining the same as much as i paid for the same Chip then why you got a bit low quality chip? if you are paying 200+ and i'm paying the same then logically have right to have same quality? am i son in law of intel's boss and you are not? we have to tell intel that " if you can't keep up with same quality don't sell"!!!!!!

That's all overclocking is; changing numbers, check for stability/temps, rinse/repeat.

Knowledge and wisdom of tech comes with time; everyone has had to learn.

If you haven't already don't forget to post your OC to the local CPU OC database, found here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/17646-ltt-forums-cpu-overclocking-database/

Also, welcome to the forums!
