external soundcard?

im looking for a external soundcard that can controll my volume with knobs or something of that kind, and i want to be able to use a XLR microphone with it too but i dont know what to get. 

most of the sound cards ive seen on computer sites dont have these features and im confused by the descriptions on sites like thomann. 

i have a pair of HD598 headphones and thinking about getting a audio technica AT2020 microphone.

well my dad has a m-audio fast track c600, and that box says its an soundcard but something along those lines but not that expensive.
