High Temps! Help!

TheDylinTech
Go to solution Solved by TheDylinTech,

Good luck!

Thanks, I really did need it! I installed the 212 (took me a while but I did it) and I am very happy! 30 (idle), 40 (light tasks), 50-60 (Gaming/Rendering). Also I can now put on the window and switch off the fan next to my case. Don't you just love Australia!

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. I made a post a few days ago about temps on my CPU and eventually said that I would re-apply the thermal paste to the heatsink (which I have done).

Anyway, so what's happening is I'm getting around 40°c idle and up to 80°c load for my CPU. 50°c and 70°c for the GPU.

I'm using:

- Thermaltake S41 case with the stock 200mm fan & the 2 x 120mm fan's.

- i5 760 @ stock 2.8 Ghz

- Sapphire Tri-X R9 290

- Contac 21 Heatsink

- In Queensland, Australia however it is only about 20°c in my room at the moment

- (Any other specs are in my signature)

Now I don't know what to do... Should I go get a new heatsink... or what?!

Also!! Really big, while I am typing this I found in HWMonitor it says that my SYSFan is only running at arround 60RPM and max 585RPM?

The biggest bottleneck is the Aussie internet..

Have you confirmed the temps in multiple software (Real Temp, Core temp). Also check the temps in BIOS.

have you tried ramping your fans up to 80% or higher for a sustained amount of time to see if the temps drop.

I have multiple programs such as Real Temp, Core Temp, Speccy, CPUID, SpeedFan. They all say the same thing.

70c is perfectly fine for the gpu. It's a freaking r9 290. The reference cards run 95c all the time. lol

Yep, I guess it's just the CPU. I'll be fitting on this week either the Noctua NH-U9B-SE2 or the Hyper 212x Evo.

Well, this is my new computer. I've been having these kind of issues since I built it last week, just haven't noticed. But, I should get a new heatsink this week.

What section of the bios would that be in?

I found it and it's saying the exact same thing 40-50 when idle. Look, it's some old crappy thermaltake heatsink. I'll get a new one tomorrow.
