Need help improving my home network!

Go to solution Solved by Pelop17,

I live in a 3 story house and gotz dem WLAN issues. My router (N-router with 2,4/5GHz capabilities) is located on the first floor (I know moving it up could fix the issue, but that can not be done) and I'm having trouble with the connection on the third floor (-77dBm on 2,4GHz and -84 on 5GHz). I'm thinking of setting up an AP at the second floor, but it would be alot of work and wouldn't look so pleasing. Are there other options I can look at?

Thanks in advance  :)

get an access point repeater and put it on the 3rd floor so it can repeat your singnal and you can have wifi everywhere

Won't the repeater slash my speeds heavily? And when placing on the 3rd floor, wouldn't it be picking up the already bad signal? I had some thoughts about reapeaters, but me disregarding that option might have been becuase of misunderstading the information.

You can buy an ethernet over power and have a wired singlal rather than  a wifi

Else if you have the money you can buy a ethernet over power and buy also an access point  ( cost : high)

So the best wireless option is a repeater (but would the speeds be slashed in the entire house?), and the best wired option is PoE access point (don't see why I would need PoE extender and AP)?

Thanks for the help, decided to go with Netgear WN2500RP repeater. Why is it more ideal to place it on the third floor and not on the second. I'm not having bad signals on the 2nd floor, but wouldnt it be picking up the weakened signal when placed on the third?

Ranked No. 1

For maximum range, go with the Hawking HW2R1, which offers robust signal-extending capabilities. This $129 device can rebroadcast your Wi-Fi signal over 450 feet, making it easy to get a solid connection in any room.

Features: The HW2R1 sports three antennas and five Ethernet ports — more antennas and ports than any booster on the market. You can set up an IP address to manage it remotely, and the physical on/off switch is handy if you want to save power while away. The device supports B, G and N Wi-Fi devices and comes with a one-year warranty.
