GTX760?

FuzionMaster

Hey guys I'm building a new computer and I'm planing of putting a GTX760 in it. I sadly have nowhere enough money for the 970. My question is: how many years can I expect the GTX760 to run games on 1080p and high quality. And when the time comes when it starts to struggle will I be able to SLI it with another GTX760 so it's performance gets better?

760 should last you a decently long time, but i'd reccomend looking at the r9 2xx series from amd. they have amazing price/performance ratios right now

I have a GTX 760 and it runs games very well, but I'd suggest looking at the AMD R9 280X or waiting until the GTX 960 comes out.

r9 280 is better value. I have gtx 760 though because r9 280 wasn't out when I bought it, it's fine.

I have a budget and the 760 just fits into it now and let's be realistic... The 970 is twice as expensive and it will not come down significantly in price any time soon. Plus I'm in Australia

get a 280x or 280, much better value, and it performs far better

Because I am in Australia the prices of the 280 and gtx 760 are basically the same but how long can I expect the 760 to last for with 1080p gaming?

AMD may be better for price/performance, everything they make is buggy (Drivers, BIOS, CF, etc) Nividia is rock solid, but at a price.

Can't give any specifics or hard numbers, but I'd say 3 or 4 years for 1080p/high settings.

3 or 4 years sounds excellent because than I will probably need to only upgrade the gpu and If I need to upgrade other stuff it shouldn't be a problem

very much so. I had a 7950 (280) and fried it accidentally on purpose. at the time AMD cards were overpriced for bitcoin so I got a 760 to tide me over. there was a noticeable performance drop even with the 760 @ 1296/7100 clocks... probably in the neighbourhood of 5-10%. of course... the 7950 had modified bios so I would guess both cards are on par normally.

why people keep claiming that the r9 280 is substantially better? the 280x is clearly better, but the 280 is pretty much a tie, unless you are worried for the 3gbs of vram.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlC81MjwelBgdDdfZGdPbERhYi1YYjhXZVREX1ZtUFE#gid=0%C2%A0%C2'> --> these are from all the forum, and you can clearly see there is almost no difference between the cards.

You will see a difference in benchmarks from sites, but remember that the 760's usually have more overclocking headroom than the 280, and remember to check the clock settings for the cards, because they usually clock them really low for reviews. (which benefits the 280)

And im not spending the extra money needed on the 280x because the 760 will do all that i need it to do ( play 1080p games at high or ultra settings)

Dam man....thats kinda old crappy board and cpu, the RAM seems good (depending on the Mhz)

are you looking to just upgrade your GPU or looking to maybe upgrade?
