Work Station Hackintosh

Go to solution Solved by ERSCreeper,

Ok I was thinking about that, also what 4th or 5th gen Intel CPUs would work with OSX?

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($286.94 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler  ($61.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($81.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: PNY Quadro 4000 2GB Video Card  ($623.24 @ Amazon)
Total: $1498.10
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

That gives you $500 for Addon cards.

So I am going to be building a work station for my dad for under 2000 USD. He is a professional photographer and editor. He mainly uses Photoshop and other Adobe products, also he needs a work station grade GPU such as a Quadro or FirePro. Here is the build I have planned:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yGDXFT

Also he wants to use Mac OSX as he has always used it and is familiar with it.

I found this Z77 Mobo which is specifically for Mac and has several ports that he needs like Firewire 800:\

So I was wondering if this motherboard is a good Idea because it is last gen? but it does claim easy hackintoshing and has the ports he needs.

Also is there a better Mac compatible GPU that he could get?

Also he already has a pro photo monitor, keyboard and mouse and is upgrading from a 2006 Mac Pro tower.

My Build

 - i5 4670k @ 4.4GHz - MSI z87m Mobo - 16Gb 1866MHz RAM - MSI R9 290 - Samsung 840 EVO 250Gb - 2 x 1Tb WD Blue - CX600m - H55 AIO cooler - Fractal Node 804 - Lg 25um64-s Ultrawide screen monitor -  http://pcpartpicker.com/user/colec18/saved/9FKXsY

Everything looks good except the motherboard

Yeah I don't love that motherboard but it does have some important ports like Firewire that he needs.

Do you know of any comparably priced motherboards that have firewire and thunderbolt and are Hackintosh compatible that he might be able to buy instead?

You are not going to find a motherboard with Firewire and Thunderbolt at that price. I would recommend another board and buy an addon card for both Firewire and Thunderbolt.

Ok Thank you,

I think his final build will be something like that.

Yeah that should all work without a problem, I don't know much about Firewire and Thunderbolt since I will never need them.

Also you will need to use GraphicsEnabler=Yes for the Quadro.
