It should be bent the other way so as the spring against the edges of the port and not go into it. No matter though: just remove the mobo slightly and bend it back by hand (or you can use pliers or a butter knife if you have bear hands).

EDIT: Also MSI Gaming 5?? b/c I have the same mobo  :D  :D  :D

It's a Z97 G45, so I have to unscrew all the screws from motherboard standoffs? The Ethernet is incorrect also?

Yes unscrew motherboard from inside the case and remove it/move it out of the way so you have enough room to work. Ethernet one needs fixing too.

Probably unscrew, pull it back a bit and then use a flat head screwdriver or butter knife from the back of the case and bend from there. That way you won't have to remove the motherboard that extensively.

Do you think i'll have to unplug all the PSU connections and fans?

Just switch off psu from the back with the switch and anti-static yourself by touching the faucet or the case metal. No need to unplug.

OK i'll do this later. Could the tab in the Ethernet port cause problems?

Maybe ethernet plug won't fit in correctly but otherwise since the outside of the ethernet connectors are all plastic I don't see any issues from an electrical point of view. Regardless you should fix that as it is relatively easy to do and won't ever annoy you in the future.

Actually I remembered something to ask you, since you have a gaming 5 you would have killer e2200? if so did you have any connectivity issues when you first got it? The IO shield was a side problem.

Nope none at all. I'm not sure why some people have problems with the killer nic. The only issue I have with it is when my router loses connection (problem with the router which I am planning to replace sometime in the future) even after it reconnects my internet does not work with that LAN port unless I restart the pc especially after unplugging and plugging back in. I had a spare tp-link pcie ethernet card lying around so I switch to that whenever this problem occurs.

Other than that it is quite a 'killer' nic. haha  :P

Ah well I'm still not sure what the cause of it is, since it likes to make my internet slower than usual and my internet is naturally already slow... or sometimes it just timeouts the page i'm trying to load. I'll have to continue snooping around to find a solution.

Maybe somehow try to disable all the optimisations it tries to make within the killer software. It probs thinks it's making your traffic faster while in fact slowing it down (just a thought).

That's a possibility, i'll have to consider that into the list of possibilities.
