"Date Modified" help

what constitutes as a modified date.  I am speaking specifically about word documents on a PC.  I created a document on 11/1 on my laptop and emailed it to my pc on 11/15.  does that change the date modified.  Does just going in and saving modify the date?  If possible, could somebody list everything that would change the date modified for a word document.

I can help with programming and hardware.

It counts as modified if it was opened and saved again

If you do anything to the document it will count as modified, If you open and read it then close it, it shouldnt be modified
