messing with a windows server looking for halp.

I have a windows server I use for test projects and what not. Currently it's also where all the shared folders are.

My issue is I have a friend that works from home, he helps me with programing projects. When he comes over to my "home office" for long sessions to work on stuff it much easier for him to be able to access everything without me having to send it to him. But I don't want him to have access to it when he gets home, not cause I don't trust him. But he has a jackass of a room mate that likes to fuck with my personal projects. How my friend access files from his home is that he uses openvpn to remote to my network where he can see all the shared folders.

is there some way to limit a subnet or an ip address from seeing one or two shared folders or just one network drive?

All I can find is limiting users but that doesn't help when he is over here working.

any help would be nice.

If you are running the VPN-server on the Untangle, then you can very much restrict access to your server from the desired subnet that OpenVPN uses.

I have yet to try Untangle, but I am sure there is a way of doing this. Or do you want him to be able to access some shares on your server? In that case, I think you are out of luck. Or you could restrict by time table, but it is not really a solution.
