Swapping motherboards

I am going to replace my motherboard and have 2 hard drives. One is for the OS, being windows 7, and the other is for storage, so games, programmes etc.

What is the best thing for me to do when swapping out the motherboard in terms of the OS and storage side of things goes.

My PC specs; Processor: Intel i5 2500K @4.6GHz, Graphics card: Sapphire AMD R9 Nano 4GB DD Overclocked @1050MHz Core and 550 MHz Memory. Hard Drives: 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM, 2TB Western Digital Green Drive, Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V , Power Supply: OCZ ZS series 750W 80+ Bronze certified, Case: NZXT S340, Memory: Corsair Vengance series Ram, Dual Channel kit @ 1866 Mhz, 10-11-10-30 Timings, 4x4 GB DIMMs. Cooler: CoolerMaster Seidon 240V

Usually , its best to just re-install the OS. There are some programs that let you transfer a windows OS install across motherboards (it basically un-installes the old motherboard drivers). IDK how well these programs work, but i DO know that you cant really go wrong by re-installing the OS

What about my 2nd HDD? Do I have to format that?

Probably not. Some programs might have to be re-installed over their old installations, but for the most part, a secondary storage drive should be fine :)

Ok thanks for that, Ill just reinstall windows on the primary drive then.

Is there really a reason to change motherboards? You can just have 2 hard drives with that motherboard no? Could save you money and time to just not change it, unless there are problems with the motherboard (which probably means problems with your computer in general).

Changing because the MSI motherboard doesn't have an option for manual vcore changes.
