AMD Test Build

Hi there!

So I was messing with Newegg and decided to make an AMD Build. I'm on a $750 budget. And if ever this comes to fruition, I will buy all the parts from

Newegg, or any place where the said part is cheaper.

If you want to know what I will be using this build for (if ever i build this): Moderate gaming and editing, minor rendering (very rare).

Supposed specs:

CPU: AMD A10 7850k

CPU Cooler: CM Hyper T4

Mobo: MSI A58M-E33

SSD: Crucial MX100 128GB

HDD: WD Blue 1TB

RAM: G.Skill Ares 8GB (2x4GB, DDR3-1866)

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 270x

PSU: Seasonic SSR-650RM

Total in Newegg as of Dec 10, 2014 - $739.91

Feel free to suggest!

That CPU is redundant with the GPU. I recommend switching to a FX6300, and using the cash from the saved 7850K to buy a R9 280.

You could even use a 8350, they are on cheap now seeing as it's the Christmas sales.

I recommend you getting an ASUS A88X-PLUS/A motherboard, they look good and have a nice Bios. I think you should get at least an AAthlon 760K as a CPU, dont waste money on an APU when you have a dedicated GPU

BTW. you can you use the FM2 Athlon on a FM2+ mobo, it has the advantage that you can have Sata 6Gb, but keep in mind, all lanes will run PCIE Gen 2.0, although it would make a difference in your case

get an uocked i5, and a r9 280x, oc'ing is so overrated also people like he wont probably care about the clock too much and he may has a hard time overclokcing it so I would switch it out to an i5 4460 and later he could still get a broadwill i7 or so.

oc'ing is so overrated

So you suggest a CPU that just about REQUIRES an OC to keep up with LOCKED intel products?

"He may have a hard time overclocking". There is no difficulty in OC'ing as long as you don't maximize it. No need to tweak BCLK, a single quick and dirty OC to 4.3/4.4 helps a lot in what he wants to do (editing/occasional rendering)

m8, my bro runs BF4 on ultra (but no AA) without lags or stuttering with an Athlon 760K and ASUS gtx 560 DC and that athlon costs like 70€

It's hard to justify $100, for an intel unlocked processor on a $750 budget.

Good for him but that's 100% besides the point and not what I argued.

When it comes to editing/rendering an Athlon is balls. The extra power provided by the CPU helps immensely to cut down times and just keep your system smoother overall.

I never said it was impossible but if you can choose between an FX-8320/8350 or an I5-4690k (Especially when it comes to gaming and light editing) the 4690k wins

No you don't. That board supports the FX8350.

well I'll advice for a 6300/8320 build since they work anyways and the title and topic is about amd.

Live your life like a dream.

the athlon is good for the money and lets be honest usually you dont spend your whole day in front of the pc, so you could render when you arent using the pc.

That's not entirely true, if you do it for a living you normally render while you work on other stuff on the computer.
