So my memory (according to windows task manager W8.1) says it's running at 1333mhz. My ram is HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8) 1866MHz. Windows recognizes the 16GB but I guess the speed is set lower. Anyways this is my first PC build (put together on Sunday) so I'm not sure what's wrong or why it's running low.

My motherboard is Asus z97-A but it should support almost any speed.

Current PC build: [CPU: Intel i7 8700k] [GPU: GTX 1070 Asus ROG Strix] [Ram: Corsair LPX 32GB 3000MHz] [Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A] [SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB primary + Samsung 860 Evo 1TB secondary] [PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 750w 80plus] [Monitors: Dual Dell Ultrasharp U2718Qs, 4k IPS] [Case: Fractal Design R5]

make sure you have enabled XMP in the BIOS

Aww, it isn't the "half" that would make it an easy answer. Check in your bios to see what your memory multiplier is set to, you might need to bump it up 2 steps(1 would be 1600, 2 would be 1866).

Edit: Yeah forgot about that XMP thing, check to see if that is enabled too(before doing what I initially said).

The memory isn't inherently "1866" speed.  The number just means it's certified to overclock at least that high.  All memory defaults to 1333 or 1600 unless you change it.

Doesn't sound that serious. Enable XMP, check the RAM multiplier (Ramp it up 2 steps), so basically what everyone above me said. Of course, if these steps don't work, let us know so we can help you get a clearer understanding of what's wrong.

My build: tis be ordered
