As others have said get a Xbox 360 (wireless) or a Xbox One/360 wired as most games have their buttons mapped to tutorials/hints. PS controllers are Bluetooth I think so if your MB has that or you have a dongle they will work. I know the Wii U one works with a dongle.

If you want the 360 wireless to work get this. That is the official one from MS. Others can be a pain to install or are just plain cheap.

Xbox One wireless does not work on PC for "reasons". Also you can turn rumble off to save battery life, but yes the rumble works on the Xbox controllers.

I second the idea of getting the official receiver. I have a Chinese knockoff (No offense, it's literally from an eBay seller in China), and it's a piece of crap. The construction is cheap, and the driver is a bitch to install.

the software wise on the Ps3/ps4 controller isn't that great, and it can cause crashes on some games like Dark Souls 2 or even Resident Evil games

What specific software are you referring to for ps4? I'v been using ds4windows and haven't experienced any crashing in dark souls 2.

Err I own an xbox One Controller I just thought it would be nice to have a layout similar to PS3/ps4

Then grab a ps4 controller, why get a layout thats similar to what you really want when you can just get what you want. Ps4 controller works using the same cable as the xbox one, though button promps in alot of games will still show xbox buttons and you will have to use a program to get the controller working.

Used a ps3 controller on the RE games with no issues.  Tried it with RE4 and 5 a bit but preferred keyboard+mouse.  I tried the DS4 with DS1 but not with part 2 since I never bought the game (wasn't a fan).  The software works pretty much like it should with any game/program I've used it for.
