Storage drive recomendation

Go to solution Solved by Dive5885,

Hey guys, so I got a 1TB WD Green and used it as a boot drive, waiting for SSDs to get cheaper. Earlier this year I finally got one and am using the 1TB as a storrage drive.

Everything is nice, except when I randomly wanna acess my music or something thats on my HDD since the HDD Im guessing spins down.

When it spins back up after a while it makes this buzzing sound. Is the sound normal for WD greens, or should I be worried? The drive passed various tests, but this is the first time I had to deal with multi HDDs in my own system.

Is there any way to make the drive not sleep or whatever, or is it a feature of WD greens have and I should look for a new drive. - If this what kind of drive would you recomend?

I don't really care so much for how fast the drive is overall since it really is just used for storing photos, movies, music exc. I just like to not click music, and have to wait for the drive to spin up and load.

Thanks guys!

I have a 2TB Green Drive and I changed the sleep time from 20 min to 0 in the Power Settings and now the  hard drive stays on the whole time.

mmk! Awesome! If I do this would I not have to do what Unijab said?

I would run wdidle on the drive and set the park timer higher if it's doing that too frequently
