Okay so built my brother a budget gaming rig for Christmas. It have already built it. Without realizing it at the time I bought a mobo that was ddr3 at 1333. I didbnt realize it until now ( I know that I should have checked the specks more closely). I got 8gb of ddr3 1600 corsair ram,  I assembled the computer and it booted fine even though the mobo said it was 1333. Question 1. is it safe to use the 1600 ram on the 1333 board or will it damage the ram. Question 2. If it is safe how much of a performance loss should i expect. I really appreciate the time you guys take to answer the questions.  :D  :D  :D

Its safe, it will just downclock the ram to 1333mhz, the performance loss will not really be noticeable.

It's safe, the ram just won't be running at 1600MHz.  And you'll notice a bit of performance loss, especially in gaming.

Its fine to use the RAM,  it just wont run any faster than 1333Hz.

At that level, you shouldn't be experiencing any performance impact; Unless you're using a APU

Only if using an APU, though even then it would only be a few FPS difference.

Yeah, you make a good point.

aside from an APU, its really only encryption and decryption that gets a massive boost with faster ram frequency... that and some benchmarks.

BUT... BUT all the DDR4 power :( ... just kidding the DDR3 1600MHz will run fine on 1333. Actually this is DDR3 base clock frequency. Even with faster DDR3 after a BIOS update or new build you DDR3 start off 1333MHz.

EDIT: And BTW I can´t get over your Avatar ;) . I always stop and laugh about that :D .
