Found a solution, for anyone having the same issue:

go to about:config

look for browser.newtab.url and change its value to about:newtab, mine was set to about:blank.

HI, so I recently switched from Chrome to Firefox and I've been having a good experience with it, but here is the thing I can not figure out:

When I start the browser, it goes to the about:newtab page, but when I open a new tab, it just goes to a blank white page. Where can I change that?
