Help, amd drivers

Just built a pc for a friend with him a 280x but the amd drivers refuse to work.

It installs, after the restart I can't enter CCC but it says the drivers are not installed properly or are the wrong drivers. Which is impossible.

Tried from the website, from Sapphire's website, from the cd. Nothing works.

Also the videocard is recognized like usual.

RUN DDU (DisplayDriverUninstaller) first, then reinstall drivers

Usually fix's driver install problems... did for me.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Still doesn't work after that.

Return to store, (with Receipt) tell them it NEVER has worked,..you've tried multiple drivers, and they cannot get the card to function at all and fail.

If they test it and it has the same issue (which they will cos they have to install drivers to test it) they should replace it, if not RMA it.

I'd THEN complain if they say RMA, that it's a MAJOR FAULT and that I'd want it replaced instantly.

If they don't budge from that, get them to RMA it.

Yep Yep, good move... in case of other issues stopping the driver install...

But didn't you say that it was a new PC, and that would mean you already did a clean install?

or did you clone the last c: into his new pc?

So you say the card is recognized as usual..

Meaning the driver works, but CCC doesnt, or you mean it gets seen as VGA Adapter but displaying fine as it's basic VGA mode.

Something to try, is when installing drivers, ONLY select the Display Driver.

Restart, then install the rest.

I've had to do that on occasion to some pc's with weird GPU issues.

I would still wanna RMA it if that was the case as thats not a normal operation to get it in working order... Drivers should just work...in an ideal world.

The display thing first worked!

Hopefully the windows updates now don't wreck it

System Restore Point.

Make one :)

Enjoy, obviously post back here in this thread and quote me if you have more issues.

The driver install first solution - I had a dying 290, and was bsod/driver installs not working kind of issues.

I found that method worked, but using HDMI i had those black bar scaling issues, so I had to install CCC afterwards, and then yeah it all worked..

But.. cos my GPU was failing sortof.. every few days I may get a BSOD on a cold boot, or after gaming perfectly, when leaving, it would crash.

When I did a restart, wouldn't boot properly, had to use DDU to remove old ones, do driver again on its own, and then CCC again.

I had to do this a LOT over the subsequent three weeks and had enough..RMA'd it.

Keep in mind drivers SHOULD JUST WORK.

So keep in mind your card may be on its way out. (even tho we have had no definitive evidence saying so) I thought I'd post my previous cards experience with this...

Can't, very tired.

Besides my ISP is doing maintenance now and it is 01:37 at night here.

Edit: apparently my ISP isn't doing maintenance but it says so on their website.

*shrug *

Simple tip when installing AMD driver, always use Custom installation and check if Display Driver is ticked or available.
