Laptop RAM Question

Hey guys I am doing a little project reviving my laptop.

 

I have added an SSD already and I am wanting to add more ram to it. I have some questions though. It is DDR3 204 SO DIMM RAM. I am not sure what frequency I can put in. The model of the laptop is a HP Pavillion dv6-1355dx.

Because 399 = 400, and DDR means double data rate so 400=800

Yes you can put any frequency, but if you put a 1866 MHz ram it will perform exactly like a 800mhz because one of your dims is 800.

It will be up to mobo how* high frequency you can use. So if you have really old mobo, it might only support 1066MHz or 1333MHz.

That really looks like DDR2 SODIMM based on those timings and the frequency. Have you taken it apart and checked the model no. of the RAM inside?

Yes the RAM sticks say DDR3.

I see. Well DDR3-1333 would probably work, and it'd just downclock itself.
