Help finding the right PSU

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

500w+, 600w will probably be similarly priced though...so, 600w :P

If you might possibly upgrade to an R9 290 (or another top tier card in the future) then I'd go with a 600w for sure, and if you may go SLI/XFIRE in the future, then 750w+.

Hello, well I´m building my first PC, but probably I have the same doubt as any noob into this topic, I do not know exactly what PSU use, here are my pc specs:

  -Sapphire Radeon TOXIC R9 270X 2GB -Gigabyte AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gbps USB 3.0 ATX DDR3 1600 Motherboard

-Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB ram (4GBx2)

-AMD FX-8320 (I´m going to OC to 4.0 ghz)

-HDD 1 TB

-1 DVD/CD reader

-2 LED 120mm Fans

How many Watts should I look for into a PSU for a optimal gaming experience with this pc specs? Thanks!

It would really depend on what kind of PSU you're looking to get. I'd recommend 600-700W for a decent one but if you're going for a higher quality one then it'd be save to drop wattage to 500-550.

Desktop: Intel Core i5 2380P (2400 w/o iGPU), MSI H61, 8GB RAM, 256GB SP610, 500GB WD Blue, HIS R9 280, Antec TruePower Classic 550W, Inwin MANA 134, QNIX QX2710, CM QuickFire Rapid, Logitech G402

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite L40D, AMD A6-6310, 6GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Radeon R4 Graphics, 14" 1366x768

Phone: iPhone 6 Space Gray 64GB, T-Mobile $60/mo 3GB plan

With a good quality PSU you'll do fine with a 550W. Which PSU specifically will depend on how much you're looking to spend and where you're shopping from

Thank you! I´m going to choose 600w then. I might change my GPU next year.
