External water cooling

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

It won't be voltage you have to worry about but current. I have however seen on eBay PWM splitters  They take one PWM connector that goes into the motherboard and have an auxiliary power from Molex and break out to normally 4 or 5 fans.

My up coming water cooled build is going to have a hex radiator externally since I can't fit that much radiator space in my case. I have never done this externally before so the biggest question I have is how do you run all the fans out there without it looking bad. How many fans can you put on one fan header by having a bunch of splitters? Also where should you run the wires through? The back grommits that you run the tubes out of? Thanks

I've seen it done where the wires for the fans are coiled around the tubing and then splitters are used at the radiator end to feed the fans there. My guess is you just need to find some fan cables which are long enough :P

A couple of ideas for you - as suggested above wrap all the fan cables around the tube and then sleeve the tube/cable combo OR sleeve all the cables together as one big run.

Thanks for the suggestions! one question I still have though is how many fans can I have connected to one fan header?  If I have 6 fans all hooked up to one by using a lot of fan splitters, I'm worried there won't be enough voltage for the fans or something along those lines.

I found an 8-way pwm splitter that connects to a molex cable from swiftech.  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! :]
