Hi, 

I am new to this building a pc thing so... now that I bought my parts I wanted to know whether I should connect the HDMI to my Graphics Card(GTX 970) or my motherboard, if its to my GPU then How do I get sound off of it? and if its the motherboard, then what are the HDMI output on the GPU doing there?

To your 970 if you connect it to the port on your motherboard it will use onboard graphics rather than your GPU

What are you using for speakers is it a monitor with built in speakers or a separate set of speakers or headphones?
