I heard this card is pretty large, will it work well in sli on the Asus Maximus VII Hero board?

You can actually remove some unused drive bays in the NZXT H440 to make room for longer GPUs. Just something to keep in mind. ;):)

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

MSi cards are very good

Totally agree. Tbh imo the msi card is the best bang for buck. It runs super quiet and at low temps without any coil whining. Get the msi card.

Gigabyte 970 Windforce

I've got this card and if it's a case without much airflow, get something else. This card vents all the hot air out the side, so unless you can want all that hot air to rise toward the processor you'll want a fan in the side of the case to get rid of all that hot air.

Correction: I've got the G1 Gaming 970 but it does use the same cooler.

The CPU is the i5 4690k. From looking around I see that people recommend the MSI or the Gigabyte card. Which one will stay cooler and perform better? I don't really mind much about the noise.

Get the MSI, less risk for coil whine and it will definitely fit in your case.

If you plan to go SLi later, get a blower cooler card from either Gainward, Palit or EVGA. (I prefer the Palit)

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.
