Hi guys, I was wondering if there will be any possibility of damage if I use my GTX 970 on a monitor whose resolution is 1680 x 1050. This is only for about 2 or maybe possibly 3 weeks until I decide on a particular 1440p monitor and have it shipped.

Thanks in advance :) and sorry if this is a basic question.

In the meantime any suggestions on a monitor model would be appreciated also :D (budget around $350-400)

Ofcourse it won't damage it.

How in the world would this damage a GPU?

Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

There will be no damage at all.

There is no possible way running at lower resolution would cause harm to a GPU.

Why would it be damaged? It supports up to 4K.

Thanks for reassuring me :) Thought it was a silly question :/ but didn't know for sure. Anyway Thanks for the info :)

Right now I've only got a 1680x1050 monitor for my setup, and I've got it running off my intel hd 4600 integrated graphics right now, and once I get the money it will be running off a GTX 970 :P
