Theoretically sure, but in reality well many things could happen.

Actually, in reality there are little things that could happen. In theory you can have jumps in technology, in reality manufacturers will never skip a step because you HAVE to make money on every single improvement.

That will easily last. I'd suggest a 240-480 ssd. The price per gb is just as low if not lower (The deals of the past week had 500gb ssds at around 35-40 cents per gb). I have trouble keeping my 240gb 840 evo from being full.

Case: Node 304 - CPU: i7 3770k @ 4.5 - GPU: GTX 980 ti - Mobo: Asus z77 Deluxe - I - CPU Cooler: H100i - Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X 1600 (2x8gb) - PSU - Evga 600w - SSD - 256gb Samsung 840 evo - Keyboard - CM Storm Quickfire rapid - Monitor: 34UM95

Not only that, but the chances that video games or software in general will immediately utilize those advancements are slim to none.

Stick with the GTX 980 as the motherboard does not support SLI. (But even if it did I would give the same advice since this would allow for a second one to be added later to extended the useful life of the system.)

Given the price, the psu is not the EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR model. Get the G2 model.

Sixteen GB of memory is not needed. Get a 2x4GB kit DDR3-1600 CL <= 9 now. Later, should it be necessary memory can be increased by adding another 2x4GB kit (16GB total) or even a 2x8GB kit (24GB total).

The gpu is a reference model. I would suggest instead, EVGA 04G-P4-2981-KR or EVGA 04G-P4-2983-KR. Better cooling and performance.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I would suggest going for a GTX 970 instead.

Get a cheaper SLI board such as the Gigabyte Z97 SLI or MSI Z97 Krait.

Drop the Ram down to 8GB.

You could put the savings towards a 1080p g-sync monitor.
