Hi there,

I would like to build a new computer but have been a bit out of the loop with newer technology and what all is out there.  I last built my computer 5 years ago, so it is probably time to upgrade.

1. Budget & Location
I'm not really sure what I want to spend yet.  I am thinking of around $1500 US (this is flexible) for the actual PC and I will figure out which monitor/peripherals I want to go with (suggestions welcome).

2. Aim
My main goal is gaming.  I would like to play Skyrim, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Witcher 3, etc. and the occasional FPS game on high settings if possible.  Also, I plan to watch movies and have the PC as my entertainment center.  But gaming will be the big thing.  No video editing or streaming.  On a side note, aesthetics would be a bonus!

3. Monitors
I would like to try running a single 27" 1440p (or two down the road).  I'm still learning/researching about monitors and trying to get an idea what is better for what I'm trying to do.  I have been looking at the QNIX 2710.  Honestly, I haven't seen new monitors in action.  This isn't factored into the price.

4. Peripherals
I will be buying a new keyboard/mouse.  But these are not really factored into the price.  The OS will be Windows 8

5. Why are you upgrading?
I want to get back into PC gaming and my current PC can't handle new games.  I'm looking for kind of a do-it-all PC that I won't have to worry about for a while.

I'm really just trying to get a feel for what I can get.  Like I said, it has been a while since I've looked into building a PC and I'm a bit out of the loop.  I also haven't played many games recently but trying to get back into gaming.  This is going to completely replace my current rig (pc, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.) so I'm starting fresh.  Also would like to have something I can upgrade as time goes along.

Please let me know if more information is needed, thanks!

Both aforementioned builds are solid, and you'll see a trend with some of the hardware at this price point. I went with a micro-ATX build. I included the monitor (which is THE monitor for the price). Also, even though the build is a smaller form factor, you could still easily add another gtx 970 for sli down the road. All of the builds mentioned in this thread are very flexible/expandable.
