RAM speed question

If RAM is rated at 1866 Mhz can it run at higher speeds like 2400 Mhz

CPU: i7 3770K | MB: EVGA Z77 FTW | RAM: HyperX Savage 2400Mhz 16GB | GPU: R9 280X Toxic | Cooler: Scythe Fuma | PSU: CoolerMaster B600

It can but you need to do some serious latency tweaking and even then it's mostly not worth it

OK thanks. Was just wondering if it was possible to do it.

I know there are almost no benefits to it for gaming, but there is fun in trying to achieve it.

there will be noticable difference in other aspects though. my Bench mark scores whent up like 100points when OCing my ram to 1866mhz from 1600mhz and my boot time decreased (boots faster now)
