I think want to get this memory for this main board that I already have.

The specs on the board says it supports 2133MHz and has (OC) next to it.  I know that means over-clock, but does that mean I have to over-clock my CPU to speed up the memory?

Two more things in the spec list for the memory catches my attention:

To reach rated memory speed, enabling Intel XMP profile or manual BIOS tuning is required

Combination with other memory kits or modules (even with same model number) is not recommended to avoid any compatibility issues

First quoted line:  Tuning? In what way?

Second quoted line:  The way that reads, it seems to me it's saying that if I use this memory, I can't ever upgrade -- can't even add additional (identical "same model number") DIMMs to the remaining two slots on the mother board.  Uhh.... what?

No. You will probably select an XMP profile that the memory has in place. The CPU can remain at stock speed. BIOS tuning means that you may need to make adjustments to the memory speed/latency in order to reach the advertised speeds. This is because they need to achieve maximum compatibility.

no it means you have to overclock the ram to 2133 (will come running slower) (XMP profile)

Tuning as in Overclocking for the memory (they mean when running on boards that support 2133 natively)

In reality, you could run the same kits (even if there was an issue it wouldn't be noticeable)

@Flight1sim , @Godlygamer23  Okay so the tuning it refers to is related to the (OC) in the compatibility list?   Sounds like it would be just a setting in the BIOS.  And after reading your replies, I remembered that when I first installed the board and HyperX ram, it was running at 1333MHz and I had to select 1600 from a drop down menu in the BIOS.    With the G.Skill memory I'm assuming it'll be the same thing and probably in the same location but with more speed options listed... right? ... probably..? maybe..?..

Could I get confirmation that you're saying the below statement isn't critical and I could still upgrade in the future?  I'd hate to be stuck on 8GB for the life of this computer with these parts, but this manufacturer statement seems like pretty plain english to me.

You technically could add modules from a similar kit(model number). They have to put that down because memory compatibility can be a little sketchy. You're better off(in terms of compatibility) going up to 16GB now, if that's what you plan to do in the future. That way, you can grab a single kit.

same thing as before basically.

And yeah disregard that last message because they might be doing that so you buy a whole nother kit :P

Understood.  In that case, I think I'll look for different memory then.  16GB isn't in the budget right now.  And who knows if G.Skill would still manufacture this model in how-ever-many-months/years from now when I would want to upgrade.  If the motherboard had only 2 memory slots, this 8GB kit looks like a winner.

Oh really?

Hm.

I wonder what they'd say if I emailed them to ask.  Think it's worth the time to look for their address and compose an email?

sure, might as well try! :D

ok as you said above, if you dont know when or if you'll upgrade to 16GB you can just get another kit of ram. But shoot them an email first just in case if you want
