by todays standards 1080 is very easy to run and yes its worth it over 720. I dont think to many worth while 1440 monitors exist as compared to 1080 to really make it worth it plus its just way harder to run at settings that really let the difference shine.  They are skimming over it in favor of 4k stuff.

Would you rather have a fast (like 1-3 Ms) response time, or a slower one (like 4+ Ms) and have nicer colors?

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Response time doesn't actually matter unless you're playing competitive CSGO.

Just for a reference though, what type of games do you play?

Well, if you don't play games that require lightning quick response time (like CSGO/DOTA/LOL) Then you could probably go with a low response time IPS.

I personally prefer IPS, so I'm a bit biased in that field. But really unless you play hardcore esports you probably don't need the 1-2 ms response time on a lot of "gaming" monitors. I just ordered one actually, I play a lot of Skyrim and stuff like that. Also BF4/CSGO/CoD.

Because of the wide variety of games I decided it would be best to go with an IPS monitor.

Ultimately it's up to you, and I would get another person's opinion.
