Hi everyone, I've searched around for this and I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I have a Pentium G3258 overclocked at 4.4 GHz @ 1.325V. I've stressed it in Prime95 for over 12 hours and it works great. My main issue is that whenever I reboot, the CPU will revert back to it's stock 3.2 GHz even though my BIOS multipler is saved and AI Suite (Asus overclocking software) reports that the multiplier is indeed set. It's definitely not an issue with my BIOS not being saved or anything like that. I'm thinking it's something to do with Windows 8.1 or possibly another BIOS setting I'm missing. The only way I can get the overclock to stick is to do a complete shutdown and then start back up the PC. Therefore, if I have to reboot due to updates or anything I lose the overclock unless I completely shutdown. Anyone have any tips?

Did you change it from the BIOS? and save it?  If you changed it on Ai Suite then it wont ever save it.

Yes I always make the changes in BIOS, I don't make any changes in AI Suite. I simply use it to see what the CPU is running at and to check to see if the multiplier is still set. Task Manager and CPU-Z also report that the CPU is only running at stock speeds after a reboot as well.

I called Asus and he told me it was a CPU "glitch"  . I think it is something with Windows 8.1 not allowing the BIOS to properly set clock speeds.

Edit: This is a brand new Asus H97I-Plus motherboard.

Nah it wont be Windows, it will be a Motherboard issue, just make sure your MB is updated. If it is updated to the latest and it does it then hope that asus releases a new BIOS update that fixes it.

What does it say in CPU-Z under full load?

Also, double check the CMOS  cr2032 battery. Make sure 1) has a charge 2) is seated properly. If either of those things are wrong, then the BIOS will not save any settings.

When I boot from a powered-off state: 4.4 Ghz

When I reboot: 3.2 Ghz

Please read the OP, this is not an issue with the BIOS not saving.

If you change settings (overclock) in BIOS, then it loses that overclock, then it could be an issue with the BIOS not saving settings changes and/or losing settings.
