So here is the deal. My thumb drive with Windows on it is somewhere in storage. I have plenty of open sata ports on my desktop, but I do not have an optical drive, nor does the computer I am trying to install Windows on. Is there a way I can install a bootable version of Windows directly to the hard drive, or am I SOL and need to find/get another USB drive?

Internets Machine: Intel 4690k w/ Be Quiet! Pure Rock 4.7Ghz. MSI Krait z97. 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport Ram. MSI GTX 970 SLI 1520mhz. 500GB Samsung EVO 840  & 3TB WD Blue Drive. Rosewill 1000w Modular PSU. Corsair Air 540

Actually, you just need ANY bootable media with windows installer on it. It could be an SD card, a flash drive, a DVD, or even if you have an HDD and an SSD, you can mount the .iso from the flash drive onto the HDD and install it onto the SSD. As long as you can boot to it, it'll work. However I have never tried installing to the same drive its installing from, and I seriously doubt that would work.

 

Granted, it would be super weird to have a small DVD sized image on something like a 1TB hard drive and I've never tried it, but it should work.
