I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on a ssd, and recently my computer had a random shut down that resulted in two freezes in the two past days. (no problems like this previous to the crash) The freeze locks everything up and I've waited at least 30min. for it to unfreeze it dosen't, forcing me to force rebut. I very confused on this issue if someone could help me or start me in the right direction that would be great.

A couple other things, as far as I know I don't have any viruses/bloatware or at least that my processes can pick up.

Specs (if it matters)

cpu: i7 4820k with a kinda crappy intel asetek liquid cooler (not overclocked)

gpu: Gtx 780ti

ram: 8 gigs of some old ass nonlabeled ram

storage: one one tb hdd kinda old and almost full, and a 500 gig ssd samsung somtin

psu: coolermaster 600 w psu

If anyone could help I'd be very thankful.

I have exactly the same problem but only when I run Payday 2, I don't know if it your case the sound keeps going but in mine it does. And the only way of unfreeze it is reboot the system

My specs are:

corsair 850w PW

Asus IV Hero

Gigabyte GTX 770 4gb

Corsair 16gb DDR3

I tried to update drivers, use older versions of it, reinstall game, replace xml file, disconnect overlay from steam, downclock the GPU.... But nothing works. temps don't go higher then 40ºC, I can only force the restart.

From what you say it is a similar problem :/
