To start off this is my first post, please go easy on me. I currently have an amd phantom x2 running at 3ghz paired with a gtx750ti, 4gigs of ram and other older stuff running in my system. Im looking to build a new pc, but due to budget constraints i'm stuck with low end cpu's.

Good thing i came across g3258, the reason i want to build a new pc is because my system right now is struggling to handle microsoft flight simulator X, it is very demanding on the cpu, so a higher clocked cpu would really benefit me.

My problem right now, is what z97 motherboard is perfect for the cpu i chose and would also be able to handle future upgrades (looking into i54690k and gtx 970) and I really need a good motherboard to handle the overclocking but wont hurt my parent's pocket too much.

I would really appreciate your suggestions (you could also include other parts like, ram, case, powersupply etc.) :)

Instead of a G3258+z97 board, go with an i5-4460 and an H81 board.

Location? budget? does that budget include an OS/peripherals/monitor?

can i overclock the 4460?

No, but even at stock speeds it's a much better chip than a g3258 in most games.

You can overclock on h81 boards with the latest bios can't you? It would be much cheaper that way.

Half the games, because half the games in the world don't use more than 2 threads lol.

hes going to end up spending more with the 4460.

Just go witht eh G3258 and a good z97 board and overclock it to <4.5 Ghz

I really need the extra clockspeed because as i said the simulator im using is cpu intensive and doesnt benifit from quad core cpu's and im trying to keep the cost low. thanks for the suggestion anyway i might consider that in the future

yes, he can, but he'd still be better off with at least an i3.

Half the games, because half the games in the world don't use more than 2 threads lol.

Except that most newer games do utilize more than two threads.

4460+h81 board = $200~

G3258 + z97 board = $160~

The 4460 is well worth the extra money.

FSX can use more than two cores after SP2.

Even in the ones that do, other than bf4 the pentium oveclocked has no trouble of keeping up in them.

I'd say 4150/4460.

G3258 suffers in multiplayer scenarios and frame times.

Depends if you only play that game, but a 3258 can overclock on some H81 boards.

Not really into those kind of games, not really a gaming guy but i would take that into consideration.
