I recently bought the i7 4770 (I know I didn't get the k...) But It wasn't working properly and I wanted to return it back to amazon. But the problem is I thought I'd be having this processor for years, but it ended up to be weeks.

My question is how would I package this thing without the plastic packaging it originally came it?

Thank you in advance! :D

Since it is a Intel CPU which doesn't have pins, put it in a antistatic bag and wrap it in a lot of bubble wrap.

Antistatic bag if you have any. Then bubble wrap or similar. You still have the original box right?

Yes I have the i7 box, stock fan, just none of the insides like cardboard and so on.

So the bag rubbing against the bottom of the CPU wouldn't be a problem correct?

It won't be rubbing/moving in the bag, if you packed it right.

Okay, thats good :). So yeah, if you have a antistatic bag then that and wrap it with bubble wrap. If you don't have a antistatic bag, then just wrap it in the bubble wrap. If it was a working CPU then I would say that a antistatic bag would be essential, but its not, so mainly just make sure that it doesn't get damaged any further(physically I mean).

Do as the above have said, returns through amazon are very easy.

Just curious, what was the issue?

The CPU was running slow (Now that I think of it maybe overheating) and I checked all parts to it to make sure I wasn't bottle-necking, but nothing in-game change the performance. I play CS:GO which is not at all a demanding game for this CPU since I see streamers with the same CPU and running the game while streaming. While they were getting a stable 200-400 I was getting around 100-200 with very frequent 10-30 fps spikes that'd last for games! I run all settings on the lowest and settings to get the best FPS, I also run 16:10 aspect ratio. (If that helps, and sorry if I'm being a lil stupid and the answer is obvious :P )

Have you considered checking your temps while doing it?

And what is your graphichs card? (Compared to the streamers)
