What do you guys think?

Hey guys, so my friend has a PNY GTX 770, and to his lack of knowledge, he heard his gpu rattling so he touched the fans(yes i know, WHILE IT WAS RUNNING!) and he broke a fin or two off. So then like a week later his GPU "Died". He would start up his computer and there would be a lot of artifacting(so unusable). I've read that this can be a few things, 1. A blown capacitor(really hoping its this one so that i can fix it easily), 2. Overheating(This isnt as bad but i could see if an aftermarket heatsink could fix the problem and some new thermal paste), and 3. Broken VRAM(This one sucks cause there is nothing i could do about it).

My friend just got a new GTX 970 STRIX and so he doesnt want this card anymore so he said i could o whatever i wanted with it. And i'm hoping that i could get it working, because 1. It is a cool and fun project, and 2. It would be a significant upgrade over my current GPU. So what do you guys think of the situation?Thanks:)

I would get a replacement cooler or fan for it if you can and if that does not fix it then it's probably f*cked

If its free, no harm there. Get a replacement cooler that can fit that pcb and give it a try. Send it to me, been wanting to get some 770's together and try out a triple sli set up just for kicks.
