I recently bought a new computer, but used my old RAM-sticks which are 1333 MHz and pretty old. With christmas rolling around I'm trying to decide what new RAM-sticks I should get, and wanting to spare no reasonable expense I've laid my eyes on the Corsair Dominators. However, I do not know enough about RAM to decide between the 1600 MHz CL8 and the 1866 MHz CL9. The price difference is minimal, so it's all about preformance.

I almost only do gaming (this is my gaming rig), and my other specs are:

i5 4670K

ZOTAC GTX 970

ASUS Z97-A Motherboard

Samsung Evo 250 GB SSD

Would really appreciate a fast response, thanks!

You only upgrade ram for capacity reasons, not extra speed. Game performance wise, you're looking at maybe an extra 1-2 extra frames if you're lucky. That's a huge waste of cash if this upgrade isn't adding more system memory to fill a need.

Just overclock your RAM, buying new ram is such a waste of money.

But what if I really wanted to buy new RAM for the looks, and decided I might as well go all the way. Which one would you recommend then?

Edit: I've also been experienceing some stuttering in heavier games, and been told that it might have something to do with slow RAM.

I wouldn't recommend ram just because of looks, but if you suspect your current kit might be a bit faulty, the HyperX Fury dimms are really nice looking with decent spec of 1866mhz cas10. I use Mushkin Redline's myself, but if I were building a new system from scratch, I'd grab the FuryX just because they are from a solid company and look nice.

But in that case the Corsair Dominator 1866 MHz CL9 would be even better (lower latency), especially since I like the looks of it?

Stutter in games = GPU not RAM -.-

I suggest you upgrade that instead of the RAM. However ADDING more RAM is OK (not beneficial but at least it's not a complete waste of money).
