Use all 24 pins

I am installing a new PSU the board has a 24 pin connector. The original had 20 pins with 4 left open, the new one has 20+4. Do I need to install all 24 pins or should I go with the original 20 pins?

Wait, is your PSU that old? Anything that came after 2005 should have 24 pins.
