Hello there. A newcomer and a first-time computer builder here. I'd like to ask for some assistance in picking parts and planning the build ahead as what to get first and so on. Looking to upgrade from my current computer to a completely new one primarily for gaming purposes, mainly for all kinds of FPS games and space sims. I'd be running it at 1920x1080 resolution on a single monitor

Budget is probably around 1000€ for the computer itself. I have peripherals already and will transfer my current HDD over if it's possible. Getting an OS isn't an issue. I plan to get parts every two months or so to actually make sure that I'll commit myself to this and because my money saving habits are extremely poor right now in addition to not making that much money in the first place. If it makes any difference, I live in Finland.

The planned parts right now look like this.

CPU: i5-4690K

CPU cooler: Thermalright HR-02 Rev.A(BW)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1600MHz

GPU: Still haven't decided on this, probably will go for a GTX 970

Case: Fractal Design Define R5

PSU: Seasonic S12II 620W

Would it be better to get a a non-overclocking capable GPU and motherboard as I doubt that I would overclock anything until I'd really need to, at which point there is probably new CPU's and motherboards out already, or should I keep the overclocking capability just-in-case? Any and all improvements to the build are welcomed.

If you feel you will eventually overclock its better to invest the money now since all you will really save immediately on not getting it now would only be around $80-100 and plus a i5-4690k will last you around 3-5 years easy.

What country are you in

Here ya go its just $55 over your $1000 budget you could lower that by removing the SSD if you wanted but since you said you plan to split it up into buying things every 2 months id say stick with it since $55 shouldnt be a major issue with that kind of time line.

But i would wait on the video card till last because there could be some serious deals since AMD will be launching their new cards sometime in the first of the year and it will drive GPU prices down. And also since your going to be stretching it out so long the GTX 960 should be out by then and from what it looks like from the leaks so far it will more than likely be the go to 1080p card for single monitor use and should come in around $100 cheaper than the GTX 970.

As for the case if you have the extra money to throw into the R5 id say go for it but right now the R4 is on sale and quite a bit cheaper than the R5.
