Hello, I recently purchased a WD Blue 1TB HDD for a friends build, and its been having a lot of problems. Yesterday when I tried to install windows, it ended up freezing before it could get to the hard drive section. Then when I tried plugging it into my main computer, it doesn't show up in the disk management (but does show up in device manager). It spins like normal, and looks/sounds like it should.

So I ended up using an older 500GB WD Green drive to install windows on and it worked fine. I still need it to work, so is there anything else I can try to do to format it before I have to RMA it? Would it be possible to install a linux distro on it to format it (I tried Ubuntu, and that doesn't work either).

Thanks!

RMA it. It's dead

Hm, do you think it would be quicker to order another one (while its on sale) and request a refund?

Agreed.

Don't you think it could be on sale because it's part of a bad batch?

Well, it wasn't on sale. I just picked it up because I had a good discount if the price was over 100 (25 dollars off).

Hey Dubesta11!

I'm sorry to hear that but apparently your drive is dead or dying, just as the others noted.

In my opinion, you'd be better off RMA-ing it and not paying for another drive. This is the link for the RMA process:

Good luck, hope the next drive works great!
