currently using a D-Link DIR-655 N300 (verA - 1.37F/W) and seeing the support

is EOL (End of Life) this router is starting to get finicky on some issues. no IPV6

support (ver C only), router self boots, router self resets, and wireless activity is

hit or miss. been a good router for 5-years, but it is showing its age.

so i am asking for some router buying help.

location - US

budget - $200

4-ports or more

wireless (nexus 7 and in the future possibly media stream to TV/HTPC) up to

60ft or better for connection

do not need a lot of "security" features as i have no sensitive information on this

network. do not game or stream (maybe in the future?)

what do you recommend?

I'd get the ASUS RT-AC 68U  http://www.amazon.com/RT-AC68U-Wireless-AC1900-Dual-Band-Gigabit-Router/dp/B00FB45SI4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417236697&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+rtac68u  I've got the rt-ac 66U model with dd-wrt firmware on it and haven't had any problems at all.  It is AC and has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.  I can't say much about the default firmware as I bought the router with the intention of installing dd-wrt so I didn't play around with the stock firmware much.

Desktop: Intel Core i7-6700K, ASUS Z170-A, ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 Ti, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512 GB Samsund 840 Pro, Seasonic X series 650W PSU, Fractal Design Define R4, 2x5TB HDD

Hypervisor 1: Intel Xeon E5-2630L, ASRock EPC612D8, 16GB DDR4 ECC RAM, Intel RT3WB080 8-port RAID controller plus expansion card, Norco RPC-4020 case, 20x2TB WD Red HDD

Other spare hypervisors: Dell Poweredge 2950, HP Proliant DL380 G5

Laptops: ThinkPads, lots of ThinkPads

yeah, i've looking into the AC-68 (latest) and something isn't making me pull

my wallet out for reasons unknown. but will consider the suggestion on the AC-66.
