I am new to building computers and i have a question on Ram.

 

First off, here's my build so far:

So here's my interrogation: I will have 8gb of rams ( 2 x 4gb ). Can I add another 8gb ( 1 x 8gb ) or it absolutely need to be the same numbers of sticks?  what are the restrictions about adding Ram?

It's usually bad to mix different brands of RAM but if it's the same type it's cool. Also Hyper 212 EVO is an amazing cooler

You have to make sure that your dual channel kit are properly installed ( in the color matching slots ), but you should be able to add the single 8 gb stick after that just fine. Keep in mind a second 2x4gb(2x4 + 2x4) kit will perform slightly better than a single 1gb(2x4 + 1x8) stick. I am also not sure if you will be able to add a second non dual channel 8gb( 2x4 + 1x8 + 1x8) stick without problems.

Also remember that you all of your RAM will perform at the speed of the slowest stick installed.

Thank you! And for the cooler, I am looking for water cooling but the hyper 212 evo is a great cooler!
